SEX EDUCATION IN CHILDREN´S HOMES FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF AN EDUCATOR

This paper deals with sex education in children's homes. The topic of partnership and family life, which is also linked to the area of intimacy, is crucial in relation to preparing for independent life after leaving an institutional facility. The aim of this paper is to identify how sex education is implemented in everyday practice in selected children's homes in the Czech Republic. The research, which took place in 2024, had a qualitative design and was carried out using semi-structured interviews with educators. According to the results, the topic of sex education in the lives of children in children's homes appears in various forms. The specific method of education differs in some aspects, but the areas addressed overlap across children's homes. In the context of the area under investigation, topics such as the biological families of children in children's homes, the benefits of living in a family group, intimacy and the perceived limits of the sex education provided arise. The paper can serve as a basic starting point for the necessary education in this area and as a stimulus for further research.
